Progress

Not a lot to report this week. The second iteration of the PCB shield has been designed and ordered. This one is the same size and shape as the Trinket, so that it can fit into the most recent housing. With luck, it will be here by the end of the week.

Experimenting with strap materials has continued. I did a test where I put a motor between materials to feel if any interfered with the vibration. I have only done this with the webbing and cotton material mentioned last week, not the polyester, but so far there isn’t a difference between the two. This means that the material that is actually in the running is the webbing, despite thinking it might be too thick initially.

I had to cut the material down lengthwise a little bit to get it to fit this case, which is where the other materials have problems. When I do that on the other materials, they fray badly and can’t really be sewn cleanly afterwards. The webbing can have the edges melted to seal them and it doesn’t end up with a scraggly, frayed look.

Here are some alternative materials that remain possibilities:

Finally, the cap finally has an attachment method. It now has four tiny screws in the top.

Goals accomplished from last week:

  • Redesign PCB shield

  • Continued strap design

Next week:

  • Continue case refinement + address the problems with it

    • Make more wrist shaped by moving the strap tabs down

  • Conduct testing once PCB arrives
